COLDPOINT LOGISTICS
JOLIET, ILLINOIS
Located at the Third Coast International Hub, between BNSF Railway Logistics Park Chicago and Union Pacific Railroad – Global IV along the Des Plaines River, studioNorth designed a flexible build-to-suit cold storage facility for Coldpoint Logistics. The facility features locally sourced precast and insulated metal panels (IMP), a glycol-heated freezer slab, an ammonia refrigeration system, and a roof-mounted solar array, all aligning with the client’s commitment to sustainability.
This food grade facility incorporates a 90-foot-deep 34-degree cold dock with continuous dock pits and vertical levelers, wire-guided turret trucks, battery charging room, maintenance shop with storage mezzanine, and three small dock offices. The main office spans 24,478 sf, featuring a two-story entry, executive suite, extensive break room, separate locker rooms, and two covered outdoor patios.
As an SQF-certified boxing and repackaging facility, it can repackage and store protein products and includes an independent dock, a 7,959 sf, two-story boxing support office, and an on-site USDA office for inspecting all protein shipments. A separate welcome center facilitates driver check-in and check-out, with nine truck positions at entry.
