A 174,120-square-foot cold storage expansion was designed to complement an existing 204,328-square-foot dry storage and distribution facility operated by the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority. Purpose-built to handle both frozen and fresh cargo containers, the facility supports efficient distribution throughout the greater Philadelphia metropolitan area. The expansion is primarily constructed using insulated metal panels (IMPs) with double column bays and integrated thermal breaks, providing flexibility for a range of refrigeration configurations. The structure is supported by a robust structural slab system with over 3,000 Controlled Modulus Column (CMC) piers. Highlights include an inspection room with a raised platform and a roof-mounted solar array. The facility includes a 16,291 SF convertible freezer with 65-foot clear height and an autonomous wire-guided crane turret system, a 62,640 SF dedicated freezer, and four convertible coolers totaling 54,514 SF. All temperature zones range from -5°F to +60°F and are supported by MHE vestibules with integrated control systems.
